# Notifications

> Choose the reminders Bow sends for bills, check-ins and things waiting for review, and see how the trial reminder and notification privacy work.

Bow's notifications come from your iPhone, not a server. Turn each type on in **Settings › Notifications**. They all start off, and Bow only asks for permission when you turn one on.

| Type | What it does |
| - | - |
| **Bills** | A reminder before each upcoming scheduled bill: on the day, or 1 day, 3 days or 1 week before. Starts at 1 day before, at 9:00 AM. Bills you've skipped or already paid are left out. |
| **Daily check-in** | Every day at the time you choose. Tells you how many bank transactions are waiting for review, or reminds you to log the day's spending. |
| **Shared to Bow** | Right away when a bank notification lands in Shared to Bow. See [Bank notifications](https://bowbudget.com/docs/bank-notifications.md). |
| **Weekly check-in** | On the day and time you choose. Starts on Sunday at 6:00 PM. |

During setup, the **Stay on track** step offers the daily and weekly check-ins. They're only turned on if you tap **Turn on reminders**.

## Trial reminder

If you're on a free trial that's set to renew, Bow reminds you 3 days before the first charge, with the plan, date and price. It only does this if notifications are already allowed.

## Privacy

Payees and amounts start hidden in notifications. With **Hide Amounts** on, notifications show dots instead of amounts.
