# Import your YNAB budget into Bow

> Move from YNAB to Bow: export your plan from YNAB on the web, import the zip on your iPhone, and start where you left off or bring your full history.

**1. Start in Bow**

On the welcome screen, tap **Coming from YNAB?**

**2. Export from YNAB**

In YNAB on the web, click your budget's name at the top left and choose **Export Plan**.

**3. Get the file to your iPhone**

Save the zip to iCloud Drive, or AirDrop it and save it to Files.

**4. Choose the export**

In Bow, tap **Choose YNAB Export** and pick the zip. Bow reads it on this iPhone.

**5. Check your accounts**

Tap **Continue**.

**6. Choose how much to bring**

Choose **Where I Left Off** to start your spending fresh in Bow, or **Full History** to bring every past transaction and month. Then tap **Bring It Over**.

## What comes over

Your accounts and balances come over. Each YNAB category becomes an envelope in the same group, with the money in it, including money assigned to later months and set aside for card payments. Hidden ones with money go in a hidden group, and empty hidden ones are left out. Ready to Assign should match YNAB's.

Targets and scheduled transactions stay in YNAB. An overspent YNAB envelope starts at zero, and Ready to Assign is that much lower.

> [!TIP]
>
> Export right before you switch. From then on, log new spending in Bow, so nothing is missed or counted twice.

## Already using Bow?

**Settings › Import from YNAB** brings over just your YNAB groups and envelopes, without balances or transactions.
